Meet the team – Abraham Punnoose

Abraham Punnoose recently joined our drilling services team, having previously worked for Trinity in Dubai. He has experience in the drilling industry working on hydraulics and jacking systems and also has extensive experience in the well services sector, supplying bespoke solutions to clients across the Middle East to help with their drilling completions campaigns.

Tell us a bit about your role at Sparrows

I joined Sparrows in August 2020 as Business Development Manager - Drilling Services. In short, that involves a lot of sales related activities and setting up an environment to facilitate more of those sales related activities!

What was your previous role?

I was Business Development Engineer in Trinity Holdings for MENA.

Have you had other previous roles different to this or in another industry?

Yes, I worked as the principle representative for one of the world's largest office and stationery companies in China, 'Deli Group Co Ltd' for the MENA region. Prior to that, I worked in a BDM role for Asia's second largest bio-fertilizer company in India and before that I was in Perth, Australia for close to five years and predominantly worked in a senior sales role at JBHIFI, which is Australia's largest home entertainment retailer!

What has been your impression of working at Sparrows so far?

One word 'professionalism' stands out. Especially currently when there is a lot of competition for work, it's refreshing to see a company digging it's heels in the sand and not compromising on quality whatsoever. It's too early to have a favourite moment yet, but my joining day was a definite highlight.

What's been your career highlight to date?

One of my career highlights has been winning an open tender for automatic ESP cable line spoolers by a major O&G service provider in Oman. This was despite the client's priority to choose suppliers to fit the Omanisation drive. The project invovled a complete revamp of a decades old spooler drive and taking feedback onboard to address implementation issues.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am an avid biker as well as a passionate 'advanced open water' PADI diver.

Any final thoughts?

I'm looking forward to working with the team to expand our drilling services, we need to adapt to the current challenging coronavirus realities but there are still plenty of opportunities for us.
