Sparrows Group secures significant contract extension in Angola

We are delighted to report that we have been awarded a key one-year contract extension with a long-standing client to provide crane maintenance, operation and inspection services in Angola.

Personnel from Sparrows Group have been involved in working on the project for a remarkable 28 years. In total, 144 members of staff are involved in servicing the contract.

Stewart Mitchell, chief executive officer at Sparrows Group, said: “We have a long and successful history in Angola due to the high level of service and quality provided by all our staff.

“In today’s low oil price environment it is more important than ever to ensure inspection and maintenance is carried out effectively to avoid costly emergency repairs and to ensure safety. Attention to detail and diligence is part of our industry recognised Sparrows Standard which has helped to lead the way in the development of best practice in the region over a number of years.”

The contract covers all aspects of maintenance, including crane replacement and large engineering work scopes as well as planned maintenance and any required statutory inspection work.

Sparrows Group has worked in Angola for more than 28 years, with around 255 members of staff currently working in the country. The company has its head office for Africa in Luanda and a further base in Malongo.

Angola and the surrounding region is a key growth area for Sparrows Group with current contracts in countries including Gabon, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria all serviced from the regional hub.
